Retreat Care Note and Disclaimer
Disclaimer/Parameters and set up for working within trauma spaces:
First of all, from personal prior experience as a participant and a mentor/facilitator - it can be a powerful and deeply bonding experience for many to move through collaborative healing spaces around ancestral trauma with one another.
The impact of healing rituals are amplified within group spaces. Witnessing makes us feel less alone, and truly seen. I orchestrate the activity and learning for each individual to be heard, and I am deeply sensitive to the limits of a group environment.
Each individual’s capacity for learning, growth and movement, metabolizing emotion and release in collaborative spaces is personal.
Our immersion work together is deeply liberating. It will also bring up sensitive topics. I want to address how I handle those moments.
1). This is a non-traditional therapeutic setting.
2). Emotional release is often a part of the healing process and is supported with great care and welcomed. And, I am not a trained and certified trauma therapist.
3). Those of you who have done ritual retreats with me in the past, you know I handle intense situations with great care. You will not be asked to do anything you are uncomfortable with.
4). The focus of this day is around ritual practices for addressing/healing ancestral trauma. My goal is to keep the space for learning and exploration as our primary focus.
5). If something deeply sensitive presents for any participant, a separate room is set up for resting, reflection, journaling with check-ins from Chanda.
6). If you need time with Chanda ahead of the immersion to process/prepare, that option exists.
7). Trust yourself. If you feel that your own personal ancestral trauma is too much for you to look at and process in a group space, this may not be the opportunity for you. Please reach out to me if you have any questions about whether or not this is the right fit for you.
8). It can be a powerful and deeply moving experience for many to be in collaborative healing spaces with one another. I lean into community supported spaces like this, because they hearken us back to ancient times when the communities and villages of our ancestors supported one another through life affirming milestones and important initiatory moments.
